Reply: frequency=868400, bandwidth=250000, txpower=7, spreadingfactor=9, codingrate=5. These settings are good for short distance tests on channel load. speedy enough to read Retipedia pages.

Reply: In Europe and other places, 433 MHz can have some benefits. It's in the middle of the 70 cm amateur radio band, more isolated from interference (except for low-powered weather stations and the like). Compared to 868 MHz, it has slightly longer range and bends around corners better. LoRaWAN networks also tend to operate on 868 MHz. 433 Hz can actually be more quiet in places. One downside is less availability of LoRa boards.

Reply: Hey I'm trying to set up a lora mesh in my neighborhood. I want to set up standalone nodes to expand coverage, and one node I want to have at my place to connect via wifi to the rest of the reticulum network over backbone interfaces. my question is, do I always need some kind of lora board (heltec lora v3 for example) AND some sort of rpi or something to run the interface? I assume i'll need an rpi for the wifi interface, but can I just have a heltec v3 running alone as a transport node? (no rpi connected to it)

Reply: I have several Heltec 32 v3 boards that I have tested with my laptop and several raspberry pi 3 and 4s. I would like to connect them to Pi Zeros 2W however the Pi has a micro USB and the Rnode, a USB-C. I have seen cables and adapters with these ends however I want to know if there are better ways to connect the two devices? I have read about the Heltec devices having a wifi connection. What is the best way to connect a Pi Zero and Heltec Rnode?

Reply: Check out the microReticulum project to learn more about the efforts to create standalone RNode transport nodes. I just started playing around with it and its really coming along.

Reply: Hey do you mean Sideband? In the connection tab you want to turn RNode on and in the Hardware tab you want to configure the radio frequency, power etc. Hope that helps.
